Please for the love of yourself STOP SKIPPING BREAKFAST! I often hear that you "just aren't hungry" in the morning. That's all well and dandy, but let me explain to you what happens by shunning the most important meal of the day.
We wake up from our nighttime fast desperately needing protein. When we do not provide the body with proper sustenance within an hour of waking several things happen.
First, we continue to produce stress hormones which is our bodies response for a lack of food. This throws our blood sugar off balance and beats our poor adrenal glands to shit. This blood sugar roller coaster dampens our energy and makes us crabby (not to mention makes our concentration shit and memory piss poor). We also tend to eat MORE later in the day because we lose control over our impulse hormones.
Secondly, we give our bodies the perfect opportunity to begin storing anything we will eat later in the day as FAT because our bodies are afraid of you starving it again and wants reserves.
You hardly eat anything but cant seem to lose the weight? DING DING
Here are a few things you can look forward to if you regularly skip breakfast; brain fog, weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol.
In short EAT SOMETHING. Even if its just a small amount when you first get up. You can start with a protein shake if solid food just seems impossible to deal with.
I promise that if you make a habit of eating upon rising you will begin waking up hungry and even looking forward to your first meal of the day.
Do yourself the favor and eat the damn pancakes.
